Beyond Crossroads Blog - Rules of Conduct
By using the Beyond Crossroads Blog, you agree that you have read and will follow the rules and guidelines set for the discussions. AMATYC reserves the right to block users who violate these rules.
Beyond Crossroads Blog Do's
- Problem-solve by seeking the advice and the experience of your peers.
- Discuss best practices with people in mathematics education.
- Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, college, location, and email address.
- Be professional. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not say anything on the Beyond Crossroads Blog that you do not want the world or your dean to see and attribute to you twenty years from now.
- State concisely and clearly the specific topic of the comment. This allows users to respond more appropriately to your comment or post.
- Include only the relevant portions of the original post or comment in your comment.
- Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individual that posted the information—not to the blog.
- Gain permission to reprint copyrighted material before posting it. If you post information that is not your original work or ideas, please specify the original source of your information. Do not post anything that is not original unless it meets the "fair use" guidelines of copyright law, or unless you have permission from the original source. When posting materials, the poster voluntarily presents him/herself as the copyright owner or has received permission to reprint copyrighted materials.
Beyond Crossroads Blog Don'ts
- Don’t challenge or attack others. The discussions on the lists are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention. Let others have their say, just as you may.
- Don’t post commercial messages or comments.
- Don’t spam the blog. Spammers will be removed from the list immediately.
- Don’t write anything in a posting or comment that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited, and the poster will be blocked from the blog immediately.
