The word "blog" is a combination of the words "web" and "log". Blogs are used to provide commentary or news about a subject of interest to the blogger. You might have heard of the term Web 2.0 which describes the newest wave of the Internet that emphasizes communication over content. Blogs are an integral part of this wave. If you search upon the term blog, you'll find thousands of sites devoted to almost every subject and interest.

The Beyond Crossroads Blog is dedicated to extending the message in Beyond Crossroads: Implementing Mathematics Standards in the First Two Years of College. Throughout the year, AMATYC will invite members to host the blog for short periods of time where they can explain how they use the standards on their campus. You will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions via the blog. This will give bloggers and their audience to share their experiences beyond their local campus.

What kinds of things might you blog about? If it is in Beyond Crossroads, it is fair game. From my reading of BC, that means almost anything about mathematics education that extends the message is OK. Do you have a unique instructional strategy? Do you assess students online in an effective manner? What types of technology do you use that leads to positive student outcomes? All of these topics and more will be discussed in coming months.

If you have something you would like to share via the blog, let me know. I am David Graser, the AMATYC Digital Products Coordinator. I maintain http://www.beyondcrossroads.com. Give me an idea of what you would like to share and I'll schedule and publicize your appearance on the blog. You can contact me at dave@beyondcrossroads.com .
